I like to call these 3 hour classes, A Retreat Practice….basically, one hour Stretch and Pranyama, one hour Active practice and one hour Restorative practice, give and take on those transitions.
I grew up and lived in STL 1958-1988, and have been practicing yoga since 1982 and teaching since 1994. I lived in the Siddha Yoga ashram’s in NYC and east of Bombay, 1988-89, and moved to the Bay area 1990-1997. I then lived at the Esalen Institute 1997-2000. This place of Esalen opened me to a broader audience in the United Sates and Europe, with many Euros coming to Esalen.
I did a 3 year Intensive Teacher’s Training with Rodney Yee, 1993-1996, so am adept in the use of props for therapeutic purposes. And from my experience as an RN, I have a keen understanding of the body, it’s physiology and anatomy
Along with teaching hatha yoga, I was very lucky to have spent many years as a student of Bhakti yoga, going to the ashram and learning Meditation and to experience the Power of Chanting and Devotion. From this personal experience of being a student in the ashram, I have an ability to create a similar experience in the yoga retreats I offer.
I’ve been offering Yoga Retreats from the beginning of my teaching in 1994, first in Mt. Shasta each summer, and now Yelapa, Mexico since 2000, Mallorca, Spain since 2002.
I have been coming to STL twice a year since 1994, offering classes and being a part of the STL yoga community. I am thrilled to be back at Yoga Source. Come join us for practice!
